Supplementary budget of Rs. 7.12 bn presented in parliament

Colombo (News 1st): A supplementary estimate of Rs. 7.12 billion was presented in parliament today by the chief organizer of the ruling party Minister Gayantha Karunatilaka. The supplementary estimate allocates Rs. 190 million to purchase a vehicle for the defence secretary and the defence minister. The supplementary estimate also includes the cost of Rs. 1.29 million incurred for the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission and the cost of Rs. 1.91 million incurred for the National Police Commission. A sum of Rs. 2880 million to purchase paddy during the Maha season, a sum of Rs. 240 million to provide compensation to farmers whose crops were devastated by the Sena caterpillar menace, and a sum of Rs. 500 million to provide compensation to Golden Key depositors, has been requested through the supplementary estimate.
