Government sources for best and latest information-Police

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara stressed that the public must only heed to releases from the Government Information Department and the spokespersons from Sri Lanka Police and the three Armed Forces. He noted that when the security forces receive intelligence, they would follow the most suitable security protocol depending on the intelligence received. He added that if the security forces believe that the public should be aware of the incident after analysing intel, they would publicize the news. He went on to note that it is unwise to follow intelligence from unreliable sources as it would only cause mass panic islandwide ultimately resulting in chaos. He strongly advised the public to avoid rumours circulated in social media and concentrate on government sources.
