Police officers and informers get cash gifts for exposing terrorist safe house

Colombo (News 1st): The Police Headquarters has taken steps to promote and to give cash gifts to the Police officers who revealed information linked to the Sainthamardu attacks. Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that the first to inform about the Saindamarthu terrorists was a Police Constable in the Traffic Unit of the Kalmunai Police Station. He added that the constable was promoted as Police Seargent for his service and was also awarded a cash gift of Rs. 500,000. He went onto note that there was a Police Constable and a Police Sergeant who helped and they were commended for their service and will be given cash gifts of Rs. 500 000 each. SP Gunasekara noted that there were three Muslim citizens who tipped off the Police about the suspects and they will be given cash prizes of Rs. 1 million each.
