Colombo (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena today (April 23) visited the recently bombed St. Sebastian’s Church, Katuwapitiya, Negombo to inquire into the present situation and inspect damages caused to the church.
President Sirisena who met with the Parish Priest Rev. Srilal Fonseka extended his deepest condolences towards all the Catholics in the area.
The Head of State also inquired regarding the reconstruction works of the Church and stated that he has given instructions to the Sri Lankan Army to complete those constructions works as soon as possible.
President Maithripala Sirisena also wished a quick recovery for all those who were injured in this tragic incident and had noted that the government has taken steps to provide maximum relief to the victims and their families.
The President also joined in paying his last respects to the deceased people who died in the explosion during the Easter Mass.
