Petition filed by "Makandure Madush" to be taken up today in Dubai

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The petition filed against the order to extradite notorious underworld leader "Makandure Madush", who was arrested in Dubai, will be taken up at a Dubai Court today(April 18) for consideration. Madush had filed the petition appealing with several reasons including a threat to his life. A Dubai court is expected to deliver a verdict on the appeal today(April 18). A total of 23 suspects arrested along with "Makandure Madush" were deported to Sri Lanka on separate occasions. Two of them reached the island early this morning and are being detained by the Criminal Investigations Department. There is no information on extradition of the singer Amal Perera who was among the arrested although his son, Nadeemal Perera was deported to the country a few days ago and was summoned to the CID to provide a statement today(April 18).
