Planting a new New Year Tradition : Plant a sapling

COLOMBO (News 1st) - According to a release issued by the President's media division, saplings should be planted while being dressed in white facing east at 11.17 am today (April 15). President Maithripala Sirisena requested the public to plant a tree for the betterment of the humankind and lead Sri Lanka to prosperity. Meanwhile, the tradition of anointing the head with oil is to be observed on Wednesday, April 17th at 7.40 a.m. The auspicious time to leave to work in the new year falls on Thursday, April 18th at 4.52 a.m.
