Colombo (News 1st): Customs officials have arrested a SriLankan Airlines ground handling staff member who had attempted to smuggle gold into the country.
Customs media spokesperson Sunil Jayarathne said the gold had been found taped to the sides of the suspects' legs. The seized stock of gold is estimated to be valued at Rs. 30.2 million.
The suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Wattala and is also a staff member of SriLankan Airlines based at the Katunayake Airport.
