138 ambulances distributed across the country for improved health care

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Hundred and thirty-eight (138) brand new ambulances will be distributed to hospitals across the country, today(April 11). The event will be held under the auspices of the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr Rajitha Senaratne. This is another phase of the programme aimed at providing 450 brand new ambulances to hospitals located across the country. Accordingly, 118 Ambulances manufactured by Ford and 20 ambulances manufactured by Mercedes Benz will be bestowed on respective hospitals. It was reported the cost of a Ford ambulance is over R. 9.1mn while a Mercedez Benz ambulance is over Rs.10mn. The ministry noted that 152 ambulances have already been distributed to numerous hospitals across the country.
