Colombo (News 1st): It is reported that an international aviation consultancy firm that provided its services to SriLankan Airlines is preparing to file a case against the national carrier over the failure to make payments for services provided. After the present government was elected, a committee was formed to restructure SriLankan Airlines into a Public-Private-Partnership. The Chairman at the National Agency for Public-Private Partnership Thilan Wijesinghe and Secretary to the Treasury were members of this committee. A British consultancy firm, Nyras was selected to be the consultancy to the committee. General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya at SriLankan Airlines Hasantha Yasaratne noted that these cases are filed against the national carrier as a result of the poor decisions made by Committee of Economic Management chaired by the Prime Minister. He pointed out to the government that SriLankan Airlines is not bound to pay this compensation as the conspirators who accepted the contract should pay it.
