COLOMBO (News 1st) – UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra noted that it is important and wise for politicians to restrict their arguments and set aside their grudges to the political arena and join hands when it comes to serving the public.
She made this statement at the opening of a Children’s and Women’s clinic which cost the government Rs. 7mn to construct.
She added that when the construction commenced only Rs. 5mn was allocated by the Central Government and the remaining Rs 2mn was provided by the Mayor of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia, who represents Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. She noted that the mayor could have denied funding as both of them are from rival parties, yet he did not. She added that this what was meant to be done by the people’s representatives setting aside their political differences.
