COLOMBO (News 1st) –  The ‘Bakmaha Diwuruma’ or the “April Pledge”, a vow which promises to eradicate the drug menace will take place tomorrow (April 03).

According to a release issued by the Presidential media division, today (April 02) the main ceremony will be held at Independence Square tomorrow at 8.15 am under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena with the blessing of all religious leaders.

All members of Parliament representing both the government and the opposition are expected to attend the ceremony.

The employees of the state sector and the general public can take this pledge between 8.30 and 8.32 am tomorrow (April 03) while school students will take the pledge between 8.34 and 8.38 am.

This program is being held under the directive of the President. He has invited all citizens of the country to eradicate the country from the drug menace.

School children from all parts of the island will also participate in this event.
