Kurunegala garbage dump smoking; inspecting politicians flare up at scene

Colombo (News 1st): Smoke continues to emanate from the garbage mountain at Sundarapola Kurunegala. A tense situation arose when the Opposition leader of the Kurunegala Pradeshiya Sabha Ajith Piyalal and the Pradeshiya Sabha member of the Podu Jana Peramuna Kumara Dasaya arrived at the scene. This has inconvenienced more than 100 families residing in the Velangollawaththe, Yanthanpalawa and Tissawella areas. The Pradeshiya Sabha had informed the families residing within 500 meters from the garbage dump to evacuate their houses. However, the residents claim that they do not have a place to go. The Opposition leader of the Kurunegala Pradeshiya Sabha Ajith Piyalal and the Pradeshiya Sabha member of the SLPP Kumara Dasaya arrived at the scene. However, a tense situation arose at the scene when the two met.
