Colombo (News 1st): Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that a Sri Lankan was killed and another injured in a huge blaze in a high-rise building in an upmarket commercial area of the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka.

Dozens of people are feared trapped inside the 19-story office block in Banani. Dhaka Tribune reported a Sri Lankan citizen identified as Niras Chandra, was declared dead at Kurmitola General Hospital.

Bangladeshi Officer-in-Charge of police station confirmed the matter saying the victim fell off the building while trying to escape the fire. According to foreign media, at least seven people were killed and 20 others were injured.

Fire crews at the scene, backed by members of the navy and air force, say the blaze has been brought under control.
