COLOMBO (News 1st) - Over 25g of Heroin was discovered by the Police from a three-wheeler which was traveling from Colombo to Kandy. The Heroin was discovered yesterday(March 27) in Gannoruwa during a raid carried out by the Anti-vice unit of the Kandy Police. Two suspects were arrested along with the stock of Heroin and they were attempting to transport the Heroin from Mattakuliya to Kandy. They are believed to be residents of Mattakuliya. Interrogations have revealed that the Heroin racket is being operated by a woman who is currently incarcerated. Meanwhile, two individuals were arrested in Meetiyagoda for counterfeiting money. According to the Police, thirteen Rs. 1,000 notes and 53 Rs.100 notes were taken into custody along with devices used to print the fake currency. The two suspects were apprehended while they were transporting the counterfeit money to a shop in Nindana. It was revealed they were carrying out this operation for over a month. The STF arrested five treasure hunters while they were carrying out excavations in the Palugolla reserve in Galgamuwa. The operation was carried out based on a tip received by the STF members stationed in the Rathgama camp. Following a three-hour search operation, the STF managed to reach the dig site and apprehend four suspects initially and one more was arrested under suspicion later on. The suspects and the equipment were handed over to the Galgamuwa police station.
