Report on deforestation in Wilpattu available at parliament library

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The report of the Presidential Commission appointed to probe the deforestation of Wilpattu is now available at the Parliament. The Deputy Speaker made the announcement at the opening session of parliamentary proceedings. He announced the copy of the report of the Presidential Commission to probe the resettlement close to the Wilpattu Forest Reserve was addressed to the Speaker on March 26, 2019, by the Secretary to the President. The Deputy Speaker added that the Speaker made the request on March 22nd, 2019 from the committee, appointed to present a recommendation on releasing lands in the Mannar District. He added the committee was appointed by the President on June 21st, 2017.
