Colombo (News 1st): The official announcement of the proposal to UNESCO to preserve the Therawada Thripitakaya as a world heritage will be made today (March 23).

The event will be held at the Temple of the Tooth Relic at 2 pm and will be attended by the Maha Sangha headed by the Chief Incumbents of the Three Sects and President Maithripala Sirisena.

The proposal is due to be submitted by a group of Theravada Buddhist countries including Sri Lanka.
