Number of kidney patients decreases

Colombo (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena says there is a considerable decrease in the number of kidney patients reported in the country. The President said that over the past four years, priority was given towards preventing kidney disease from spreading. He said, despite the criticism raised, public services over the past 04 years had strengthened and the public service will be further expanded to serve the innocent people in the country. President Maithripala Sirisena opened the ‘Methsiri Sevana’, Kidney Patients Relief Service - Welfare and Research Centre affiliated to the Anuradhapura General Hospital. The centre was built at a cost of Rs.437 million utilizing funds from the National Kidney Fund. There are approximately 17,000 kidney patients in the Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa Districts.
