Colombo (News 1st): A religious event to felicitate the benefactors of the Sri Gauthama Viharaya in Narahenpita was held today (March 20) with the participation of former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Minister Navin Dissanayake and Former Army Commander General Daya Ratnayaka also attended the event. Speaking at the event Minister Navin Dissanayake noted that he is sure that the future Presidential Candidate has several events to attend and this country provides the opportunity for any leader to be created. He went onto note that when speaking about the Presidential candidate the suitable place will be provided to a suitable person and it cannot be stopped by anyone. Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the event thanked Minister Navin Dissanayake for making him a presidential candidate. He noted that he hopes and prays that Minister Dissanayake will be able to achieve what his father could not achieve. Rajapaksa added that he is certain that his (Navin D) father-in-law will be a future presidential candidate. Gotabaya Rajapaksa speaking to the journalists noted that his plan regarding the presidential election is going well and forward based on the principals of the SLPP. He added that the people appreciate him for the leadership that he provides more than the leadership he provided during the war. When questioned if he believes that the minority communities will appreciate him, Rajapaksa noted that he thinks it'll happen because everyone understands the situation. He said just because they are referred to as the minority communities he does not think they will fail to understand the situation as to what is happening. Rajapaksa said they also need to come out of that situation and he thinks that he is that answer.
