Protests results in heavy traffic in Colombo

Colombo (News 1st): Heavy traffic has been reported on the Borella - Maradana road and surrounding areas due to two protests by university students. Police requested the commuters to use alternative routes while travelling.

The police had fired water cannons at the protestors near the University Grants Commission whilst trying to secure the area.

Galle road was also temporarily closed from NSA Roundabout to the Ceramic junction due to a protest march today. The protest was carried out by the residents from Puttalam against the garbage disposal site in Aruwakkalu.
