Thundershowers in the afternoon

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Met Department predicts a high probability of afternoon thundershowers in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Central, Uva and Southern provinces today (March 18). Showers may occur over Eastern coastal areas in the morning. The department also states that heavy rains exceeding 100 mm can be expected at places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Meanwhile, fairly heavy rainfalls of about 75 mm can be expected at some places in the North-Western province. The department warns of severe lightning and advised the public to take adequate precautions to avoid hazards.
