PCoI on corruption at state institutions receives complaint on Malik Samarawickrema

COLOMBO (News1st) - The Presidential Commission on irregularities at state institutions within the past four years has received a complaint on Minister Malik Samarawickrema acting in an arbitrary manner when signing the Singapore - Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement. The complaint has been filed by the Secretary of the National Professionals' Front and the Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association Dr Haritha Aluthge. The complaint states that Minister Malik Samarawickrama when signing the FTA violated the conditions of the agreement thereby violating the human rights of the Sri Lankan citizens. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the PCOI states that complaints have also been received regarding a discrepancy that has taken place at the Customs Department and the failure to properly estimate the property damage caused following the 2016 explosion at the Salawa Army camp. 900 complaints have been received so far by the Presidential Commission. The commission is open to receive complaints until the 19th of this month.
