Beliatta bank heist: Perpetrators still at large

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The robbers who broke into a rural bank in Beliatta are still at large. A group of armed robbers broke into the Beliatta rural bank at 3 pm yesterday (March 13). The suspects had arrived and fled the scene on a motorbike without a license plate. Police stated that the bank staff were threatened and Rs. 230,000 was robbed. Five employees were in the bank at the time of the heist. Although the CCTV footage inside the bank was removed by the perpetrators, the incident was captured on a nearby CCTV system. Police noted that investigations are underway to identify the suspects.
