Colombo (News 1st): The driver of the defender, involved in the Borella OIC hit and run, was further remanded until March 18th. The suspect was produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate Kalani Perera today (March 11).

Defence Attorney Ajith Pathirana requested the magistrate to call off the identification parade as the suspect admits he was driving the vehicle. However, the Additional Magistrate refused the request and ordered the identification parade to be held on the 18th.

On the 24th of last month, the Borella Traffic OIC was knocked down by a defender at around 4.30 am when he was travelling on a motorbike. The suspects initially fled the scene. However, the defender was later discovered parked at a house in Pelawatta, Battaramulla.

After a long battle of 14 days at the ICU of the National Hospital, the OIC passed away on March 9th. The final rites of Borella OIC IP Ananda Sagara Sarathchandra will be held at the Borella Public Cemetery today (March 11).
