COLOMBO (News 1st) -  The Sunday Times reported that the Singapore government has not made an official response regarding the dispatch of the former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran to Sri Lanka in order to face charges on the bond scam. President Maithripala Sirisena confirmed at a news conference last week, that he had made a request from Singaporean Prime Minister Li Hseign Loong during his visit to Singapore. President Sirisena also added, "I have seen some remarks by politicians questioning as to why I can't get Mahendran, if he is in the country, my officials will get him." The President noted that Interpol issued a red notice following his request, and the person concerned could make an appeal defending him that he should not be arrested. The President further added that Mahendran appealed to INTERPOL and it was rejected. Therefore, the red notice was validated again and it is in effect, so he can be arrested anywhere in the world.
