Traffic OIC injured in "hit and run" incident still in ICU

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Colombo National Hospital states that the Traffic OIC of the Borella police, Ananda Sagara Sarachchandra who was severely injured in a "hit and run" incident is still in critical condition. A spokesperson for the National hospital says that although the OIC was put through a series of operations that he is still in an unconscious state. It has already been 13 days since the OIC was admitted to the intensive care unit of the national hospital. On the 24th of last month, a defender had hit the motorbike that the OIC was riding at around 4.30 am at Bambalapitiya. The defender was later discovered parked at a house located in Pelawatta, Battaramulla. Eight suspects were arrested over the incident. The arrested individuals include the son of MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage. After the suspects were produced before courts on February 26th, 7 out of the 8 suspects were released on bail. The Magistrate ordered Udesh Rathnayake; the driver of the defender to be remanded till March 11th. Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena had also visited the injured OIC at the hospital.
