Colombo (News 1st) – State Minister of Finance Eran Wickremaratne believes that all parliamentarians should declare their assets and liabilities.
Appearing on the Newsline program on Thursday (March 7) the state minister, who published his assets declaration recently, stated that he would like to see President Maithripala Sirisena, PM Ranil Wickremesinghe, Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and all 225 members of parliament also declaring their assets.
Wickramaratne explained that Sri Lanka must move in this direction towards transparency. He noted that there is nothing wrong in having wealth adding that the people want to know where this wealth comes from. He added that a public declaration of assets would show whether persons are accumulating wealth at the expense of the general public.
