The president also did not forget to speak about the Police force that has been assisting in the islandwide crackdown. President Sirisena noted that many of the police officers below the rank of ASP struggle to survive. He noted that the Police department needs to be restructured as many of the officers are treated in an unfair manner. The President went onto note that the Ministries that have overlooked the police department over the years have politicized it and that this needs to change. He noted that on many occasions Police officers work for over 12 hours a day without food and water and that this needs to change.
