Shortage of numerous essential drugs islandwide

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Peoples' Movement for Free Health Services claims there is a serious shortage of drugs required for kidney diseases, Asthma and heart diseases in hospitals across the island. Convenor of the movement, Dr Nilan Fernando said the crisis was prevalent over the past two months. News 1st made an inquiry regarding the issue from the Ministry of Health. Dr Lal Panapitiya from the Director of the Medical Supplies Division said measures have been taken to supply hospitals with essential medical drugs. He believes that the crisis could be resolved following the completion of the drug distribution.
