COLOMBO (News 1st) Several political figures shared their views regarding the upcoming budget. UPFA MP Ranjith Zoysa noted that Ranil Wickremesinghe's statements are contradictory. Some statements claim that Sri Lanka is on the right track to development while other statements claim that the Sri Lankan economy is on the brink of break down. He added that despite those contradictory statements the Central Bank reports the development of the country has decreased to 3% and it is the most difficult time for the country. He also noted that the upcoming budget is a deception and no matter what concessions they offer the opposition is prepared to defeat the last budget of the prevailing government. Minister of Buddhist affairs and Wayamba Development, Gamini Jayawickrama Perera noted that the budget which was to have been presented last year (2018) is now in March this year. He noted that every major national event is delayed leading to an inevitable interruption in the development process. JVP MP Nalinda Jayatissa argued that Ranil Wickramasinghe's budget proposals were always based on taxes, selling assets and disclosing the economy to foreign investors. He noted that there is no evidence to believe the upcoming budget would not be based on the same economic policies. Therefore he noted that the JVP has decided to reject Ranil Wickramasinghe's upcoming budget proposal.
