COLOMBO (News 1st) – The time period allocated to register chainsaw machines has been extended until March 15th.
The Ministry of Defence stated that thereby all chainsaw machines used in state, semi-government or private institutions and used for corporate or individual purposes should be registered at the closest police station before the 15th. A special license and a number plate will be issued to confirm its registration.
The mechanism that was adopted as per orders of the President began on the 20th of last month with the aim of controlling deforestation and various other illegal activities using chainsaws.
