Colombo (News 1st): Four members of the committee appointed to monitor state media institutions have resigned from the committee.
On January 31st, the former Minister of Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera appointed the committee, comprising of 7 members, to monitor state media institutions and ensure that they are truly engaged in public service.
The committee was chaired by Wijayananda Jayaweera. It was revealed today that Professor Jayadeva Uyangoda, Attorney-at-Law Sudarshana Gunawardena, Anoma Rajakaruna and Kaushalya Fernando have resigned from the committee.
In addition to the chairman, the remaining members of the committee are Professor Pradeep Weerasinghe and Nalaka Gunawardena. Nalaka Gunawardene has been appointed as the acting Chairman of the committee as Wijayananda Jayaweera is currently overseas.
