Colombo (News 1st): The General Secretary of the United National Party expressed the following views regarding the Central Bank bond scam following a working committee meeting held today (Feb 27). General Secretary of the UNP Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that starting from the party leader, evidence was given, and the matter has been rectified. He added that in short, no individual has been identified as a perpetrator. The Central Bank process is also very clear he claims. Kariyawasam went onto note that if there are perpetrators, after so many years, some form of punishment should have been executed. He said even a former MP who was accused in this regard, requested that action is taken against this matter. The General Secretary of the United National Party speaks of punishment and perpetrators! However, does his statement not reflect accusations of defrauding public funds? A forensic audit is yet to be conducted on the first Central Bank bond scam, while no steps have been taken to investigate the second bond scam. The reflection and echo of the Central Bank bond scam, Arjuna Mahendran is yet to be brought before the law. Does the view of this amateur General Secretary seem to adopt an oblivious approach?
