Makandure Madush inquired on alleged VIP assassinations

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ceylon Today reported that the security forces are currently conducting inquiries as to whether "Makandure Madush had plans to assassinate VVIPs in Sri Lanka. The article notes that investigations are being carried out to ascertain whether infamous underworld criminal "Makandure Madush" had sent several M-39 marksman rifles to the country from overseas, with plans to assassinate VVIPs in Sri Lanka. The paper quoting sources attached to security forces said that they were currently grilling accomplices of "Makandure Madush" in custody, to figure out how the kingpin had procured the firearms. The paper also states that the security forces suspect that the weapons had been planned to be brought to the country on trawlers through Mirissa.
