COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Bala Mandala meeting of the Homagama electorate of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna was held yesterday (February 17). The meeting was chaired by JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Speaking on Gotabaya Rajapaksa's potential as Presidential candidate the JVP leader said that the very person who claims to change the disciplinary system of the country has a court case filed against him alleging that he used state funds to build his parents graves. Dissanayake continued to say that Gotabaya even though nearly Rs. 98 million was spent to build the memorial, Gotabaya had resorted to state that the special high courts cannot hear the particular case. He questioned the people if those who are disciplined would have run away from the law as he did without proving his innocence. Taking another instance he said that when the MIG deal was taken up, another case was filed in the Supreme Court that statements cannot be recorded by Gotabaya and the case has been postponed. He said that what he (Gotabaya) means by maintaining discipline is because it will make it easier to steal. "Thirty of the forty people working with Mahinda Rajapaksa have court cases against them where some of them had brought chillie powder to parliament, assaulted MPs and police officers and even spilled water on the speaker's chair" said Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The JVP leader noted that he who couldn't control the discipline among his own party members cannot maintain the discipline of the country.
