T-56 found buried in a lawn at Meetiyagoda

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The police discovered a firearm buried in the lawn of a house located in Meetiyagoda. The Police stated that the owner of the house had been injured in a recent shooting. A few days ago a resident of the Udumulla area in Meetiyagoda, Kalupe was admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital after being injured from a shooting. He had informed the police that he was shot by an unidentified gunman who arrived at the house. The Meetiyagoda police found the statement suspicious and commenced an investigation to delve into the matter. Investigations led to finding a T56 buried in the garden. Consequently, he was arrested and will be produced before the Balapitiya Magistrates Court. The police suspect that the alleged shooting could be an accidental discharge of the weapon.
