Colombo (News 1st): The relatives of two businessmen who were reported missing from the Boosa area in Ranna Udagama, lodged a complaint at the police headquarters today (Feb 15). Businessmen Manjula Asela and Rasheen Chinthaka, who are residents of the Boosa have been missing since January 23rd this year.
The wife of Manjula Asela noted that both of them disappeared on January 23rd, while they were staying at her house. She noted that it was none other than the police who took them. She stated that they had searched for them everywhere but have not yet received any information.
She had received a letter on February 6th saying that her husband and friend were forcefully taken by a senior policeman in Matara. It noted that they had killed one person, and because the other witnessed the murder, he was killed as well.
The mother of Rasheen Chinthaka said that when they arrived at the police they had asked them for a weeks time. She noted that the police had said that the case had been handed over to the CID.
The office of the police media spokesperson said that even though investigations regarding the disappearance of these two individuals were conducted, they had failed to receive any information. Accordingly, further investigations regarding this matter was handed over to the CID with effect from the 13th of this month.
