PM chairs Jaffna District Development committee

Colombo (News 1st): A meeting of the Jaffna District Development Committee was chaired by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (Feb 14). The meeting was also attended by a Ministers, TNA parliamentarians and state officials. Speaking at the meeting State Minister of Education Vijayakala Maheswaran noted that one can only understand the reality of the situation not by attending these Kachcheri meeting but by going to the villages and inspecting the schools there and holding a meeting inside the villages. She added that just as Sridharan said you don't go to the Delft islands in the Landmaster, you go there in a helicopter. Therefore she requested him not to compare the Northern province with the other provinces. Responding to this Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe noted that this is why they have given the Jaffna District to a State Minister. State Minister Maheshwaran pointed out that they must work with trust in order to take steps to develop education.
