Mannar Mass Grave: Carbon Dating Report Expected Tomorrow

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The reports by Beta Analytic - Radiocarbon dating services, Florida, USA on the bone samples recovered from the Mannar mass grave is expected in Sri Lanka tomorrow (February 14). Speaking to reporters, the chief judicial medical officer in charge of the Mannar mass grave excavations, Dr. Saminda Rajapaksa said so far 316 individual skeletal remains have been identified and 307 of them were removed from the mass grave site. Today (February 13) is the 144th day of excavations at the Mannar mass grave. Dr Saminda Rajapaksa said that the radiocarbon dating laboratory will not be giving an exact date of deaths, but will provide a period within a range of 10 years. He stressed that twenty-six paediatric skeletons were also recovered from the site.
