COLOMBO (News 1st): Yesterday (Feb 10) Minister Lakshman Kiriella stated that "everything was in order" to bring Madush back to Sri Lanka. He stated that the matter was then leaked to the press. "As a result, the police in Dubai intervened. They took him into custody. The press reports everything, the wanted and the unwanted. They do not think about the country. If this was not leaked, Madush would have been brought to Sri Lanka. Because it was leaked the process was disrupted."
Several politicians responded to the above statement made by the minister.
MP Udaya Gammanpila argued that Madush committed crimes both in Sri Lanka and Dubai. He was taken into police custody while he involved in a crime in Dubai. "He has two accusations against him: Using drugs, and having drugs in his possession. The police in Dubai are investigating if charges can be filed against him for being involved in the sale of drugs."
Meanwhile, MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena stated: "Usually we bring dolls when we come back from Dubai. Kiriella thinks that Madush is a doll."
