Tax free permits for state employees with a catch

Colombo (News 1st): Speaking in Parliament today (Feb 8), State Minister Eran Wickramaratne expressed these views on duty-free vehicle permits issued to state employees. He noted that issuing of permits to import vehicles for state employees will not be suspended, but importing vehicles has been temporarily suspended, as a practical measure to protect foreign reserves. He said this is due to the huge debt repayment in January and added that the issue will be completely resolved within the next three months.
