 Special investigation into the elevator malfunction at parliament

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special investigation has commenced into the malfunctioning of an elevator at the Parliamentary complex yesterday (February 07). Parliament officials said a complaint has been received from both members of the parliament and engineering department of parliament following the malfunction. They added that the investigation will be carried out to take necessary precautions as well as to hold those responsible for the malfunction accountable. They noted that the elevator has been in operation for a period of over 35 years. Complaints were made during parliamentary sittings yesterday(February 07) by the opposition when 12 MPs were stranded inside an elevator for over 20 minutes.
