Beruwala heroin haul suspects further remanded

Colombo (News 1st): The eight suspects, who were arrested in connection to the heroin haul in Beruwala were further remanded until the 22nd of February by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today (Feb 8). A comprehensive report on the suspects was presented to the court by the Police Narcotics Bureau. On the 6th of December, the Police Narcotics Bureau found heroin worth over Rs. 2.7 billion on a multi-day fishing trawler off the coastal areas of Beruwela and Balapitiya. The haul of heroin weighed over 231Kg. Chief Magistrate Jayaratne ordered the Police Narcotics Bureau to take steps to file charges according to evidence against them.
