Colombo (News1st): An Airbus A-380 flying from Abu Dhabi to Sydney made an emergency landing at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning after a passenger fell ill.
The Airport Duty Manager said that the passenger suffered a chest pain while the Airbus was passing over Sri Lanka’s air space. The patient was handed over to the BIA medical team and later sent to a private hospital in Negombo for treatment. The patient was later transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.
The Duty Manager added the aircraft was refuelled at the BIA. The departure of the aircraft was delayed due to a technical error that occurred during landing. The passengers were accommodated at hotels until the aircraft was ready to continue its journey. The flight is expected to depart tonight.
