Reuters-At least three people were killed and twelve wounded after an eight-story residential building collapsed in Istanbul, the city’s governor Ali Yerlikaya said on Thursday (February 7).
It was not immediately clear why the building, in the Kartal district on the Asian side of the city, collapsed.
Yerlikaya told reporters at the site that rescue teams made contact with a five-year-old girl Havva and they were making every effort to save her from the wreckage.
Forty-three people were registered in 14 apartments at the building that collapsed on Wednesday (February 6). Authorities said the top three floors of the building had been built illegally.
