Cabinet approves authority to rehabilitate drug addicts

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Cabinet approval has been granted to establish an authority to rehabilitate people addicted to drugs. The proposal was put forward by President Maithripala Sirisena. Approval was also granted to import equipment that could be used to detect narcotics. This mechanism will be enacted in accordance with the Drug Eradication national program, "A country free of intoxicants." The activation of the national plan to eradicate corruption in the country also received cabinet approval. Thereby the plan will be enacted within the 2019-2023 period. Elimination of bribery and corruption in state-owned and other institutions is the main motive of this plan.
