News 1st journalist threatened following continuous reports on drug trafficking

COLOMBO (News 1st): The News 1st correspondent in the Gampola area -Suranga Rajanayaka- has received threats following his continuous reporting on matters related to drug trafficking. The threats were made by a group of politically involved individuals, in the background of the President's intervention in the national drug eradication program. Our correspondent has lodged a complaint regarding this matter at the Gampola police station. According to News 1st correspondent Suranga Rajanayake, massive amounts of drugs and heroin were taken into custody with the support of the Gampola police. "Despite all of this, we have received threats from drug dealers and area politicians.
