Opposition leader meets Mahanayakes in Kandy

Colombo (News1st):  Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Kandy today (Feb 2).  After obtaining blessings from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic the opposition leader called on the Mahanayake of Malwathu Chapter Venerable Thibbotuwave Sri Sumangala Thero and the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathna Thero.
Journalists present at the location were able to question him about the new constitution. Rajapaksa noted that the Mahanayaka Theros are of the opinion that there is no need for a new constitution. He was also questioned regarding the comment made by Prasanna Ranatunga saying, "irrelevant of whether the alliance is formed or not, you all should contest from the flower bud". The Opposition leader stated that it is his opinion. He added that some say contest from the Flower Bud while others day contest from the hand and another group says contest from the umbrella.
