School teacher sentenced to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment

Colombo (News1st): The Kurunegala High Court delivered a verdict today (Feb 01) sentencing a school teacher to two years of rigorous imprisonment on charges of assaulting a student in 2011.
The suspect is a 55-year-old teacher at Nagarasanna College, Kurunegala.
High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundera ordered the convicted teacher to pay Rs. 100,000 as compensation to the student.
If she does not pay three months will be added to her sentence and will be fined Rs. 10,000.Other Articles
