Reuters- In an effort to improve tourism and provide shade to visitors at the beach in India's southern coastal city of Visakhapatnam, authorities have re-planted over 600 trees on the sands of the beach. A local resort owner along with Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is working on beautifying the area. The trees were uprooted from a nearby land allocated for a proposed runway. GVMC commissioner called me and gave all this area, we planted 600 plants and all the 600 plants are survived, said the coordinator of the project and owner of the resort, Raja Babu. After the successful transplantation of trees, Babu has now planted 30 date trees and hopes that the re-plantation of these trees too will be a success.
