An award ceremony to felicitate police officers

Colombo (News1st): An award ceremony to felicitate police officers who performed exceptionally in operations to curb the spread of drugs in the country and put their lives on the line, will be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium today.

• Presidential Medal of Police Gallantry - 15 officers
• Sri Lanka Police Gallantry Medals - 59 officers
• Janadipathi Prashansa certificates - 960 officers

President Maithripala Sirisena will attend the event as it's the chief guest. The President will award 1034 police officers who were actively involved in drug busts and operations to eradicate organized crime in the country during the period from the 1st of January 2015 to the 14th of January 2019. A National drug prevention week was also conducted from the 21st of this month to the 28th.
